Turning Obstacles to Opportunities

What man became great without encountering any obstacles on their way. The famous Martin Luther King Jnr faced obstacles. King faced many obstacles while on his mission for equality. He was arrested over twenty times for protesting. He was the object of several violent attacks, both to his person and his property. He received threatening phone calls, his home was bombed and set afire, and he was even stabbed. While Albert Einstein was trying to convince physicists that light could bend, he arrived at a point where he faced several challenges as people thought he was going crazy. He had to divorce his wife, and lose his children. He was also alone in his theoretical work, but only he remained convinced that his work was right. When you look deeply into the life of any great man/woman you see, it's made up of various challenges which they overcame and turned into an opportunity. Our definition of a situation as an obstacle or an opportunity depends on how we choose to per

How To Make Your Day Count

The days you have is so special that you have to cherish and appreciate it. One of the things we tend to do is to live a type of life where we disregard most of the indispensable gifts we have. The air we breath, the support system we have, the people around us, the birds in the air, the life we have and what we have achieved among other minute details of the life we live. We tend to remember always what we are yet to achieve and levels we are yet to attain.  This is not the right way to live. For any of the things you have, be appreciative of it and be grateful to God for everything. Make everyday of your life count. God made us all for a purpose which He intends that we'll accomplish in our lifetime. As we walk and work hand in hand with Him, He directs us like a shepherd leads His sheep ( Ps. 23) .  I like to say that God is our sponsor (a person who guides you on what to do but doesn't stop there, He works with you till your purpose is achieved). So for whatever

A Cover with Content.

For a while now I've been doing a lot of thinking and innate deliberations. I went through a situation that gave a reason to think deeper, evaluate and reevaluate a lot of things. At the end of that exercise, I arrived at certain deductions. I'll want to liken my thoughts and conclusions to a book.  Normally, every book has a cover and then it's content which comprises of the details of the book. Most times we buy books based on the topic, the cover, the author and any other specification we choose. I've also had to read through the preview of the book just to have an additional idea of what the book is all about before I go ahead to buy it. All this we do to ensure we buy a book worthwhile and will build us up or just enlighten us according to our need.  There are different parts of a book but as my thoughts led me, I'm just going to talk about the book's COVER and its CONTENT.  The Cover of a book is usually the first thing we look at when we want

Meditation Styles: which one is right for You?

Meditation is a set of techniques that are intended to encourage an increased state of awareness and focused attention. It also means taking charge of your mind. It has observed to have numerous benefits on our psychological well being. These days, there is a greater need to reduce stress from our demanding lives and busy schedules. This is why meditation though an ancient tradition is still being practiced today.  Even though there is no right or wrong way of meditating, one has to find the meditation style that best suits her needs and resonates with who you are.  According to  healthline  there are nine popular types of meditation practice. However, I particularly appreciate 6 of them. 1) Spiritual meditation; This is the type of meditation imbibed for religious people like Christians. It is same as as prayer as it involves reflecting on the silence around you and desiring a deep connection with God.  This type of meditation when done regularly leads to improved relation

Shut Complacency Out of your Life

Have you ever been totally content with the status quo, lacking the desire and hunger to do more than what is required to just get through? When you do not go beyond a certain expectation but just want to settle, that's when complacency sets in.  Complacency is all around us and can exists in any area of our life especially when we give it the opportunity. It is the reason why it seems difficult to win honors in a field twice in a row and why its difficult for some persons to remain at the top of the mountain they've worked so hard to build and climb. It usually happens after some successes, when you begin to feel comfortable and confident enough to stop working harder. Complacency is a state of mind where an individual gets too comfortable with his/her current state to even venture into a new project or take up new responsibilities.  It is the absence of an urge in you to aim for more, dream bigger and refuse to settle for status quo. It is that point where we no l

HOW TO BUILD MENTAL STRENGTH

Do you want to achieve massive success in life? Do you have the mental strength/toughness it takes to make it happen? Well, regardless of how great your life ambitions are, achieving it all is tasking and can be difficult. This is basically because our daily activities can take a toll on us physically, emotionally or mentally. Even those who have achieved success have also faced difficult situations. They face disappointments, failure, discouragements, weakness, stress, lack of resources and so much more. As a result of all the ups and downs, some people kept on striving while some others gave up at some point. Some stay strong and persevere even when things worked against them. This ability to stay strong no matter the difficulty is called MENTAL STRENGTH . It is recognized as a critical key to success. According to Duckworth, the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a special blend of "passion" and "persistence". Mental strength/toughnes

Shades of Integrity II: Relationships

I read an article that pointed out that relationships can be characterized by compassion, understanding, parties involved can be engaging, love, mutual fondness but still not thrive. I've just been wondering what could be missing amidst all tho characteristics that still break relationships up. A lot of effort has been made and is still being made daily by people in relationships to ensure theirs grow and survive the test of time.  Thousands of books, articles, and blogs have been written from different dimensions with different ideas, all in the bid to share experiences and make suggestions on what can make a relationship thrive. Regardless of all this, there are still breakups among friends, married couples, and those in dating relationships. Now I'm wondering whether we make as much effort applying what we read as we make gaining knowledge on making our relationships thrive. From my experience and after giving it a lot of thoughts, I'm certain that among all
